    While this Regency book started out really slow for me I quite enjoyed it in the end. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting based on the title. I mean I thought there might be a little swashbuckling but what little there is, we don’t see.

    There were a few things that we don’t see but I wish we’d have found out. The biggest thing is what was Jack thinking when he left his sister in the forest to get lost? If he ever explained himself, I missed it. As much of an imp Jack is, I loved that he stood up for his sister when it was most needed.

    Sophie was a bit of a mystery to me. She seems to think that she isn’t much of anything. She says she isn’t smart and doesn’t like books as if she were a simpering debutante but I think she really believes it. She is smart however. She loves her family especially her brother and she is loyal and not inclined to put too much stock in gossip. She is also forgiving.

    The Captain is rather dark and brooding as we sometimes like to see our heroes. Initially he is in fact rude but eventually we see his softer side and that he too is loyal and caring.

    The story is sweet and clean and full of missed chances for love. Oh, and the cover is beautiful.

    Sex: some kisses
    Language: no
    Violence: war- but we don’t see it. We just see the consequences.

    Sophie is young and very adventurous. She also had a family who is not much help in finding a husband.

    Capt. Murdoch is a man of mystery to everyone in town. He also has a past that is dark but not in the way everyone thinks.

    Sophie is very interested in Capt. Murdoch. She wants to get to know him more and find out if the roamers are true!!! She also feels a pull towards him. So when they both end up at a party she is excited when she sees him there. Her feelings for him keep growing at the party and after.

    It is a fun read. I really enjoyed this book!!

    { I received a free copy in return for my honest opinion. All options are my own.}
