Meet the Geek

Browning_K_200Hi! My name is Karlene Browning.

And I love books!

I learned to read when I was four and I’ve been a card-carrying book geek ever since—and proud of it!

Most years I read over 100 books. One of my favorite things to do is chat with other readers about books—what’s new, what’s good, what’s not worth the time.

I love everything about books—the way they look, the way they smell, and of course, the way they can suck you into an imaginary world that becomes so real you can get lost there for hours and hours.

I love authors too. They are my favorite kind of people. I love spreading the word about my favorite authors, and giving a shout out to those I feel a real affinity with.

That’s why I created this site—to help support my LDS author peeps. I consider it a labor of love to authors and readers everywhere.

You can contact me via e-mail or follow me on FacebookTwitter, and Pinterest.

You can also find me at:

Where I recommend some of the books I read. This isn’t so much a literary review, but the kind of review you’d get if I were standing beside you at a bookstore, saw a book I loved, and started geeking out all over the place while you slink away in embarrassment and pretend you don’t know me. I also participate in blog tours and giveaways from time to time.

An anonymous blog I wrote from 2000–2006 to help new authors navigate their way through the LDS publishing industry. This site is in (probably) permanent hiatus now, but all the posts are still up. It covers writing tips, submissions, the whys and wherefores of traditional publishing, and some awesome guest posts from popular LDS authors.

My day job. Where I do all types of book and author services: typesetting, cover design, ebooks, editing, print promotionals (business cards, postcards, etc), social media promotionals (banners, buttons, etc), and web design.

See? I told you I loved books!
