The ANNETTE LYON COLLECTION contains brand new contemporary romance novella OUR SONG, as well as five hand-picked readers’ and reviewers’ favorites of Annette’s popular Timeless Romance Anthology novellas.

In OUR SONG, Cassie and Matt have been dating in the Yellowstone area for two years, and things are, well, average. When Cassie meets up with two college friends who are visiting, their love lives like sound like fairy tales: rose petals, chocolates, candles on the beach… Cassie goes home feeling like she’s missing out. After all, repeatedly watching Old Faithful erupt and walking through sulfur-smelling gases at Fountain Paint Pot don’t exactly say “romance.” Maybe things with Matt aren’t going anywhere, and it’s time to move on. Then she discovers that perception and reality are completely different things. Now she can only hope it isn’t too late to show Matt how much she really cares.

Also includes the contemporary romance novellas, GOLDEN SUNRISE and FIRSTS AND LASTS and three historical romances, WAR OF HEARTS, BETWEEN THE LINES, and A TASTE OF HOME.

I am a huge fan of the Timeless Romance Anthologies, so it’s no surprise that I loved this! Even though only one of the stories in this collection was new and I had previously read all the others, they were all stories that I loved re-visiting.
The new story, Our Song, was one of my favorites! I loved how realistic it felt and how both Cassie and Matt realized there were things they could each do and give up to strengthen their relationship. I think too often we fall into the trap of thinking that our real relationships should have all the “fireworks” and glamour of what we read in books or see in movies, when it is the underlying strength and bond that is most important. And I loved the Yellowstone setting, too!
The other stories in the collection, which have all previously appeared in other Timeless Romance anthologies, were all wonderful as well. There is a good variety of contemporary and historical settings. While I enjoyed them all, my other favorite is Between the Lines. There’s just something about getting to know someone through writing letters!
All in all, this is a collection you can’t go wrong with!

  2. So many great stories in this collection! My favorite one was the new novella, Our Song, since it made me cry just a little bit from the emotion of the story. It really kind of caught me off guard that I connected with the characters so much, but it was wonderfully written. I had read the other two contemporary stories in the collections they were published in, and it was fun to read them again since they take place in destination cities- New York and Las Vegas. The settings are definitely part of the action in each story. The historical novellas were just as enjoyable, each with a unique setting and situation. I love that the emotions of the characters are central to the plot since it makes me relate to them quickly, which is necessary due to the brevity of a novella. Each story is well-rounded and feels complete as the happy ending isn’t really an ending, but a beginning in love for the couples.

This is a collection of Annette Lyon’s novellas from the Timeless Romance Anthology series, so if you’re one of her fans this is a way to get them all in one place. All of these are clean romances.
OUR SONG is a new novella in this collection. Cassie and Matt have been dating for a couple of years, and they both work at Yellowstone. She meets up with a couple of the girls from college and when they start talking about being engaged and how their boyfriends proposed–trails of rose petals leading to candles on a beach, designing engagement rings, etc she feels like her relationship with Matt is missing something.
GOLDEN SUNRISE was originally in Summer Wedding Collection. This is a sweet second-chance-at-love-story about high school sweethearts that unexpectedly meet up at their best friends’ wedding in Las Vegas, and find out that neither one of them got over the other.
FIRSTS AND LASTS was originally part of the Summer in New York Collection. Dani went to NYC to pursue her dream of being on broadway but after 6 months the dream is fading and she’s run out of money. While doing things on her “Firsts and Lasts” list, before she moves back home, she meets Mark, who’s handsome and likes a lot of the same things Dani likes. They become fast friends and he helps her spend the last 10 days of her time in NYC checking off items on her “Firsts and Lasts” list. Mark also came to NYC pursuing a dream but he refuses to give up on his. Can he convince Dani to stay in NYC and continue pursuing her dream instead of returning home to the Midwest?
WAR OF HEARTS is from the European Collection. This story takes place in Finland during the Winter War with the Soviet Union (1939-1940) so there’s mild war violence but it’s not explicit by any means. Anna goes to Finland to report on the war and to get away from her ex-boyfriend, Pete, who works for the same magazine as a photographer. She unexpectedly runs into Pete while at the camp, and then the camp comes under fire and they have to work together. I love Annette Lyon’s books and short stories, and wish this story could’ve been longer.
BETWEEN THE LINES comes from the Love Letter Collection. This story takes place in Provo, Utah in 1926 and is about Jane, a really shy young woman, who belongs to the Aid and Cultural Society in town. She feels as if she doesn’t fit in and that she’s plain. Emma, the leader of the Society decides to exchange letters with a similar organization in Canada. There aren’t enough members in Canada for everyone in Provo to have a “letter friend” so Thomas, who also belongs to the Aid and Cultural Society comes up with a plan so everyone will have a “letter friend”. This is such a sweet story.
A TASTE OF HOME is part of the Silver Bells Collection. It’s a sweet story about Claire and William who are traveling home for Christmas together by train. Claire arrives home to find that her family is under quarantine because her brother has the measles so she ends up staying in a hotel. Claire and William grew up together and he teased her a lot when they were younger so she isn’t too happy when she finds out they have to spend Christmas together. William shows Claire that he has changed from when he was a young boy and he tries to make this Christmas a good one for Claire since she can’t be with her family. It’s such a sweet love story I wanted to read more about Claire and William.
The only downside to this collection is I wish some of the stories were longer.

This is a lovely collection of novellas. There is a lot of variety in the stories, each taking place in various time periods and locations.

Our Song: This story was sweet and showed what real love can look like. And in some ways was quite thought provoking for me. My only complaint was that I wanted them to walk back into the crowded area so all the people could see the happy outcome. And I know that was against the point being made but I still wanted it to happen.

Golden Sunrise: I love second chance romances in general but this one made me really nervous. The amount of time they spent together upon their reunion before deciding their future was crazy. But I liked them together.

Firsts and Lasts: This is an insta-love story where they built their relationship in a very short period of time. In addition to spending a great deal of time together, they really developed their relationship by buoying each other up and supporting their dreams.

War of Hearts: This was a great historical story but also really sad. It was harder to read because of the harsh realities of war. I would have liked to find out the extent of Anna’s wounds before the story ended.

Between the Lines: Sweet story of finding real love based on the inner person and the attraction felt for the real self.

A Taste of Home: I could relate to this story and how sad I would be to not be able to be home for Christmas. I loved seeing the sacrifice made through true love to bring home to her.

Over all this was one of my favorite Timeless Anthologies. I am pretty sure I’ve read some before but it had been a while so it was fun to read them anyway.
