A restless rancher. A single mom. A second chance at love.

Wes Colton suspects he’s coasting through life as a ranch hand, but dang it, he’s good with animals. Besides, age and money put college out of reach, so working on the ranch is just fine. But when he runs into his high school sweetheart on a brief trip back to Huckleberry Falls to sell his grandmother’s house, suddenly so much seems possible.

Ellie McKean still hasn’t forgiven Wes for dumping her to be a wandering cowboy. She’s returned to Huckleberry Falls after a disastrous rebound marriage, but with a delightful daughter in tow and big dreams for a hair-styling career. Wes Colton? No way does he figure into her future plans.

When Ellie’s uncle can’t do the annual sleigh rides in a town filled with Christmas festivities, Wes steps in to help. Between the stable and the small town, Ellie can’t avoid him—or deny her growing feelings.

Can Wes change his future so he can stay? Or will two hearts again be shattered?

Rating: Mild. Mild kissing.

About Jen Peters

Jen Peters

Jen Peters loves the first meetings, swoony kisses and happy endings of sweet romance. She is thrilled to set her McCormick’s Creek series in her beautiful home state of Oregon. When she’s not writing or renovating yet another house with her husband, Jen borrows a horse to ride, forces herself to weed the garden, or takes a time out with Bailey, her opinionated Cavalier spaniel who thinks he rules the world.

Sweet second chance romance. This is a clean Christmas romance about a hair stylist and cowboy both about to launch their new dreams. The conflict is, of course, can they also add their relationship to the equation? We didn’t find out how it was all going to work long term but we did get a happily ever after ending.
I liked Wes and Ellie. Their relationship moved quickly but since it is a second chance romance that worked. Their love was still there from 9 years earlier and it wasn’t hard to rekindle. And I enjoyed Ellie’s daughter. Ellie’s sister I was iffy on but her story comes up in the next book so I’ll probably like her in the end.
