Jane is the prettiest, smartest, most popular girl in North Aubrey. So why can’t Zach ever manage to meet her?
Zach, his father, and his sister Emmy are forced to move to the small town of North Aubrey after his mother’s gambling addiction lands her in jail and costs them their house and most of their possessions. Zach is understandably unexcited about his new situation, but soon begins to make friends and becomes a member of the high school baseball team. Everybody he meets is very friendly, and before long he learns about Jane, the prettiest, smartest, and most popular girl in school. She’s all anyone in town can talk about. But after a week goes by and he fails to meet Jane, he starts to become suspicious.
Is everyone in school playing a prank on him? Is it just a strange coincidence that he never crosses her path? Everyone in town is completely obsessed with her, but it seems like Jane doesn’t actually exist at all.
