She has everything Lord Farnsworth wants, including his manor.

Lord Farnsworth would rather rot in debtor’s prison than sell the one place that feels like home to him—his mother’s manor. That is, until he meets the woman who wants to buy it. Sally Duncan is beautiful, intelligent, and as rich as a baron—a rich baron, not a cash-strapped one like Lord Farnsworth. She’s the solution to every one of his financial problems and is bewitching to boot. All he needs to do is sell her his beloved manor and then charm her to the altar, and the manor will be his again. Simple, right?

But nothing is simple when Sally starts tearing apart his ancestral home and renovating it in a way no one would consider tasteful. She is wreaking havoc on everything, but he cannot give up on owning his mother’s estate again, nor can he imagine anyone but Sally as his wife.

And so he sticks with his plan.

What a horrible mistake.

Esther Hatch has delivered another 5-star sleep-stealing must-read! I laughed and smiled and swooned my way through this fantastic Victorian rom-com. I love how her characters always come alive in a way that makes me forget I am reading a work of fiction – they are endearing, they are complex, and they are memorable! This book is full of wit and charm and enough laugh out loud scenes that I lost count. This one has earned a spot on my favorites shelf…right next to all of Esther’s other books.

    I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK! I started it last night thinking I’d just read a chapter or two. Ha! Finally forced myself to go to bed way too late but before I even picked it up again to finish I sent a copy to my daughter, today, on her birthday. It was too much fun not to share it around. I borrowed it in Kindle Unlimited but I’m pretty sure I will need to buy myself a copy too. So. Much. Fun. And it may well be my favorite book of the year. I know we aren’t far into the year yet but I love it so much that it will have to be very close to the top if not #1.

I love rom com and there was so much fun stuff in here. I found myself smiling so many times as I read. So enjoyable! I loved the characters. I loved Sally tormenting John in ridiculous ways. And his tormenting in return. I also loved how much he really cared, especially with her sister. I loved the servants. We don’t see that much of them except maybe the gardener but they were lovely characters. I loved that Sally was so strong and confident in what she wanted from life. I love that she gave her sister a generous dowry but I hope she will ensure that Victoria keeps control of it instead of handing it over to her husband upon marriage.

I have to admit that normally I dislike scenes in books where there is obvious body oogling but these moments were so funny in the book that it didn’t bother me at all. It wasn’t really meant to be titillating but instead to make the moment feel awkward for the characters and create humor. Those scenes made me laugh instead.

My only problem with the book was I kept wondering why the hunting lodge would be so close to the manor? I would think a hunting lodge would be located to make hunting convenient while away from home and not just down the way. However, even though I wondered about that more than once, it did not detract from my love of the story. I just loved it too much to care.

Very fun rom com. I can’t wait for book 2.

    Sex: no
Language: is “demmed” a swear word?
