What do Hooper, a waif who lives in a dirty, smelly dragon birthing barn, and Golden Wind, the mystical golden dragon have in common?

Other than saving a whole world, nothing much.

On Erdron, The Age of Magic begins and Vay, a powerful, evil faerie lusts for two things: to be Erdron’s Dark Queen, and to reclaim her prized creation, the golden dragon who not only can deliver the world to her but holds the key to her ultimate destruction.

Hooper, who hates dragons, meets a green dragon who saves him from Vay’s clutches and in his dying moments bequeaths to Hooper a dragon tear-jewel, an emerald gemstone that holds magical powers.

Hooper has no idea of the gem’s properties but has a vague notion that only a Gem Guardian can wield its powers. The question though, is Hooper the Gem Guardian or is he just the gemstone’s caretaker until the real guardian appears?

In the dead of night, Wilders, crimson-clad dragon riders, attempt to steal Golden Wind. With a great deal of reluctance, Hooper joins Cara, Dragon Master Boren’s daughter, and Helmar, apprentice to Boren, to fight off the Wilders.

Hooper and Golden Wind escape into the forest. Later, Cara, Helmar, and Professor Phineas Phigby, Master Alchemist and Book Master join them, along with Scamper, Hooper’s furry and only friend in his lonely world.

The company begins their quest to save Golden Wind. Along the way, they battle trolls, goblins, Varg wolves, and more Wilders. Their arduous journey is aided by the occasional visit of Osa, Nadia, and Eskar, good fairy queens and Vay’s sisters.

Will Hooper earn the title of Gem Guardian or will the magical gem and Golden Wind slip into Vay’s hands?

Erdron’s fate lies in the answers to those questions.

Rating: Moderate. Mild language; moderate violence or horror.
