With war raging in Europe, the only way Marie can be with Felix is to join the Allied forces. However, as Marie parachutes into France to join the Résistance, she not only lands into the arms of her fiancé, but also drops into the hands of the enemy.
Major Rolf Schulmann has been struggling between personal convictions and his duty to the German Fatherhood. Now he must decide what to do with the captured fiancée of the man who gave him a new chance at life — a man he once loved as a brother. The Gestapo will do whatever it takes to dispose of Marie. If Rolf helps her escape he will have enemies on all sides — is it a sacrifice he is willing to make? Can Marie possibly trust her life to a man torn between two masters?
This is very frusterating, the ending leaves you hanging, and the prolouge too the next book is maddening
This is an extremely well-written book with plenty of suspense and an interesting twist. I’d rate it a five if I could figure out how to.
I loved this book! It is suspenseful, well-written, and heartwarming! When is the sequel due out?
I’ve read this and passed it on to my daughter to read. Great book from a first-time author who has done her homework to include accurate historical references. She has done a great job of making the characters come to life…and, yes, to make you want to read the sequel!
It didn’t take me long to finish this book! I was completely enthralled! When is the sequel coming out? I wish I had it right now. I need to finish this story!
Loved the book!! Can’t wait to read more about Marie and Rolf!!!
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t want to put it down because I had to know what was happening next. I love the way the relationship between Marie and Rolf fell into place. I have a hard time finding books that keep my interest – this one definitely did. I’m glad my mother-in-law and sis-n-law recommended it. The only frustrating part to me is having to wait for the next book!!

I loved the story line and the suspense. It is maddening not knowing when the sequel will be out. Does anyone know?
Are you guys really sure there will be another sequel? I bought this book saturday at 5 pm and could not put it down so I went to bed at 3 AM! I loved the characters and when the book ended I wanted to cry because I was left with an unfinished filling…I wanted to know what happened to them and their sacrifice So how do you guys know there will be a second?
I purchased the book Friday afternoon and finished it Saturday evening. I thought it was very well written and it kept you in suspense the whole way through. I am looking forward to the sequal and hope it does not take long to come out.
I want the sequel too. I googled the author to see if I could find out about her books but I could really find anything on her. Hopefully she will have a website soon so we can go out and get the second!!
Ok..I read on the barnes and nobles board that traitor’s Sequel is called ” tribunal” no idea when it comes out 🙂
I am an avid reader and usually stay away from predictible LDS fiction but something about “Traitor” reached out to me. I started reading and couldn’t stop. Sandra Grey has a way of making predictible things unpredictible. I was so sad to have the book end and know there was a sequel but couldn’t find any information as to when it would be coming out. I hope real soon!
Hello everyone. I too loved this book–in fact, Traitor is my favorite piece of LDS fiction. I’m excited to see the sequel come out.
Just so everyone knows, Covenant Communications (Traitor’s publisher) tends to release sequels within a year of publishing the first book. So we can probably expect to see Sandra Grey’s next book by January 2009, if not sooner. And also, I hear that the title is not yet firmly decided, so we’re going to have to look for the author’s name instead of the book title.
I really enjoyed this book and strongly feel that this author will have a great future in the market. She combines her research with her story very well and the tension throughout is realistic to the time.
I have a friend who knows the author and the rumor is the second book will be out this summer, maybe June??
I also loved this book and could not put it down and have even reread it, can’t wait for the next one!!
Loved it! I listen to a lot of books on CD and this is one that I could listen to over and over. The ending completely took me by surprise. The Prolog helped some but I can not wait for the next one!
Be excited- the sequel comes out in January! I work for the publisher and that’s the plan : )
I loved it when will the next one be out?? This book only took me two days to read it was awesome,of course my teachers weren’t so happy with me reading in class but hey, that’s high school!
Great Book! It is so frustrating we have to wait until next year for the next one… in an interview she said she may even do a third book, I hope it doesn’t take that long for them to find eachother again!
That was an amazing book!!
But I’m kinda frustrated because the end totally leaves you hanging….I can’t wait for the next one!!!
I love this book, it was so sad though and leaves you hanging, and i can’t wait until the next one comes out.
I read the synopsis of this book in a catalog and put it on my “books to check out” list. When I was at the library it was the only book that was actually there so I got it. I wasn’t very excited about reading it but once I started I was hooked. I went out and bought my own copy. I can’t wait for the sequel to come out, to see how Marie and Rolf finish their story. I highly recommend.
wow this book was amazing. I LOVED it! I could not put it down. I was sad about how it left me hanging at the end, but excited about a sequel.
At first I did not know there was going to be a second book. I was so mad about the ending. Then I realized that there is going to be another book. When is it going to be released? I can’t find anything about it anywhere.
I just looked in the Covenant Communications site, and they show “Tribunal” being released January 5, 2009. It will be both in CD’s and a book. Too bad we can’t get it in our stockings for Christmas…
I barely finished “Traitor” this morning and must have the next book. I must find out how everything works out! I love this book but am left sad to have the next book because of how the Prologue sets it up for the next book. It is maddening.
Is this where I’m supposed to say which book is finalist in the most categories? Both Traitor and Bound on Earth are finalists in three categories.
I’m here to say what Jennie said–this book and Bound on Earth were are both finalists in 3 categories.
I loved it.
Trivia Tuesday 10 February. I haven’t read this book yet, but I can say I would like a closer look if I ever got the chance to hold a copy in my hands.
Traitor and Bound on Earth are tied with three Whitney Award nominations each.
I think this book should win the Best Historical Fiction Whitney Award because I was full of twists and turns and danger and, of course, romance. It had enough history in it to help me be in the right time frame and yet not overbearing historical points to push me out of the story.
Can’t wait to read Tribunal
WOW! Lots of comments on this book! It must be a winner! i vote for Sandra Grey for winning a whitney!
Review by Laura.
Sandra Grey’s writing has a different flavor to it than other authors in her genre. Her word choice is unique, her voice is distinctive, and I fell in love with her style from the first paragraph. I really appreciated how she blended history with story, and gave us a taste of what life was like during World War II. The emotions she presented were accessible to the reader, I felt as though I knew what each character was feeling, and I came away having learned while being entertained by a good story.
There were moments that felt like an information dump. We spent a lot of time on back history and I would have liked to see some of that weeded out. I also felt that Marie’s time at Ravensbruck, which could have been a book all on its own, was very abbreviated and I wanted to see more of her experiences there.
This is a story of war, and it’s realistic. There is violence and there is death. It’s not over-the-top, but the story doesn’t pull punches, which, in my opinion, is how a story should be when war is the topic.
I highly recommend this book. It’s one of my favorites from last year and definitely my favorite historical fiction read.
I give this book four and a half stars.
Caution: Violence.
