However, disaster strikes in more than one quarter and the lovers are torn apart by forces outside their control.
Henry leaves to seek his fortune, after which he promises to return for Charlotte, but a dastardly scheme sows seeds of doubt in the pair, dividing them by distance and circumstance.
Will they be divided forever or will fate take pity on them?

This romance was very different from most I read. I won’t do spoilers but this love story does not follow a straight path to its happily ever after. So many twists and turns to get there. Along the way their is separation, angst, grief, depression, hopelessness, and acceptance until it finally turns to full joy.
I liked Charlotte and Henry. And I even liked George by the end. Charlotte’s parents are something else. Her mother is a piece of work. Wow.
The original title of this book is Convincing Charlotte but then changed to Misfortune is a Rolling Tide. While I like the original title better I think, the new title is much more descriptive of the book.
Sex: attempted seducement
