He asked, she answered—a definite no. Now, seven years later, they’re facing off in court. Sparks will fly.

Becca is crazy about Carson, but with a proposal looming, she finds advice from the only person she can: her amateur-psychologist hairdresser.

Despite his plans for the future being completely thrown off, Carson can’t imagine life without Becca. But when the proposal goes horribly wrong, neither one of them dreams they’ll end up facing the other seven years later—in court—as enemies. Or with Carson nearly engaged to his boss’s daughter.

Seeing each other again is the last thing either of them expected when they signed on to the land dispute case. And working through the long-buried feelings they have for each other is a huge distraction, with a side of Caramel Frozen Hot Chocolate. After all, they’re supposed to be representing clients, not falling legally in love.

About Jennifer Griffith

Jennifer is a wife and a mom of five weathering the chaos by writing escapist fiction. Jennifer has no plans to write the Great American Novel. She’d rather compose what someone would read on a rainy afternoon with a cup of cocoa, or sitting on a beach chair while the waves crash. Light, frothy, gone.

Becca knew that things were getting serious with Carson. She needed relationship advice, so she turned to the only person she could at the time, her hairdresser. Using what her hairdresser said, she begins to see some red flags. Carson knows he wants Becca as his wife. So he proposed, and she shocked him by saying no.

Seven years later, Carson is a successful attorney. His firm assigns him a big case in Bisbee, AZ. He’s been here once before, when he and Becca were dating. He doesn’t expect to see her now, but he does…across the aisle as opposing counsel. As they battle in the courtroom, they also have to face their feelings for each other.

I really enjoyed reading this book! The book switches between Becca’s and Carson’s points of view. I loved seeing what they were thinking in different situations, and laughed many times. Both were great characters, and great together. I loved the romance! That romantic tension was there between them right away. To have them encounter their ghosts from the past here in a town known for it’s ghost stories and hauntings was a perfect setting. The side characters were written well and really added to the story. Most were residents of Bisbee and really brought that small town feel to life.

Ms. Griffith has a way of describing things that just makes me smile. I’m able to sit down, relax and just dive into the book, enjoying every minute.

I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Cute read. Probably could be made into a Hallmark movie script. I liked both the main characters. I had a little problem with the bad guy’s logic. I mean that was a lot of ruining lives over misunderstanding one sentence said years and years ago… It would have been funny if he hadn’t done so many horrible things to people. I was cringing a little in the beginning of the book since Becca was only 18 but then after the 7 year time jump I understood the age choice better and it was okay.
