Dan and his two friends are asked to deliver a food box to a needy family. By mistake they deliver it to the wrong house and meet Maria, an undocumented mom and her two young kids. Over the next few weeks, as Dan becomes drawn into Maria’s life, his parents find themselves at a loss to deal with his uncharacteristic behavior.
This is classic formula Jack Weyland with cheesy (but fun) teen relationships and a difficult social issue. I'm not sure how I feel about the issue of illegal aliens and hoped that by the end of the story I would be able to have a better idea. I found it slightly difficult to believe that the woman would go around talking about how someone had helped her get a social security card illegally. I'd recommend it as a fun and intriguing read if you like Jack Weyland books.
After thinking about it for a few more days. I think it is believable that the woman wouldn't know it was illegal.
Is that the sign of a good book? When you keep thinking about it afterward? Ü
