Another fun story from Jennifer Peel! I admit though that the heroine of this story drove me a little crazy with her stubbornness – I wanted to just give her a good shake several times! I thought both Jason and Zander were fun characters — looking forward to reading Zander’s story next!
I really like this book (except the seriously stubborn main character). It was funny, real, and endearing. I listened to the audiobook, and Nancy Peterson is a fantastic narrator. There were a few off-color jokes, but it was otherwise clean.
Overall I liked the story but I didn’t like the characters. Three main characters and all of them are dense. Kenadie is the worst of all. She can’t see what is right in front of her nose. Instead of putting on blinders so she can’t be hurt again, she puts on a blindfold. She can’t see the truth of anything. Jason is a nice guy but stupid to go along with the plan to win Kenadie. He should have stated his feelings long before and the kisscam thing isn’t going to do it. As for Zander, he was kind of comic relief but I was convinced that he was actually gay and I never saw anything more than friendship and sorrow over losing his friend.
So how do you like a story but not like the main characters? I don’t know. I just did. I was still entertained enough to want to see how it resolved. I felt like the story dragged out longer than it needed to be, especially the beginning. I saw the percentage read on my Kindle around 1/4 of the way through and couldn’t believe that was all I had read. But like I said, I still liked it.
