This is a fun retelling and modernization of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I wondered how the author would include some elements of the old movie but she managed to do them well so they were mostly believable in our time. For example, how would one get away with kidnapping a bunch of women? But the author managed it. There were lots of nods to the original movie/play that didn’t follow exactly but were obviously there if you are familiar with the story. And actually the problems I had with the book are the exact problems I have with the movie/play so the author did an excellent job of incorporating it all into her retelling.

This was a fun, lighthearted romance based on the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers! If you did not like the movie (or have never seen it), or have a hard time with fast marriages and insta love, then this book may not be for you. Having seen the movie many times and loved it, I appreciated how the author adapted the movie storyline into a contemporary setting in a creative way.
