As the eighth Earl of Kellworth, Gareth is accustomed to getting what he wants. Then he encounters a woman he suspects is from the future—a utopian future that he feels compelled to see. He intends to get what he wants, but it will involve dealing with fae magic. And that could lead to disaster–for his heart.

Dr. Catherine Ryan is drawn to the handsome guest at Twickenham Manor, with his odd combination of childish excitement and old eyes that have seen too much pain. She loses her heart to him before she discovers the truth of when he’s from. Now she faces the biggest decision of her life!

I am thoroughly enjoying this series despite my typically not being a big time travel reader. These are fun. I really liked Gareth and grew to really like Catherine. I didn’t connect with her instantly but I got there. I loved that Gareth was willing to learn and improve and not allow pride to stand in the way of real progress. I loved how quickly he overcame his non-feminist views, once it was pointed out to him anyway. As he said, it wasn’t that he really thought a woman couldn’t do something but more that it never occurred to him that a woman would want to do it. And no one in his time period did things like become a doctor to show him otherwise. And I so love that he found ways in his time period to allow his sister and then Catherine to experience more in life than what was typically expected of a woman. I’m looking forward to reading his sister’s story.

Being a woman, I tend to think my own time period a better place to live. Obviously woman have many more freedoms now than the 1800’s. Because of this I was interested in how the author pointed out that there are good and bad to all time periods and she included a terrorist attack to prove the point. Living in the US, 9-11 is the only experience I’ve had with terrorism and I, personally was far removed from that but London has had terrorist attacks I don’t know how many times in my lifetime so while using a terrorist attack may be an extreme example of the negatives in my time period it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. The book doesn’t get bogged down by the terrorist part of the story thankfully. It just illustrates its point and moves on with the story.

So if you like sweet romance with a touch of faerie magic thrown in to travel through time then this will be a fun read for you.

    Sex: some kisses
    Language: no
    Violence: terrorist attack
