Welcome to the site where we spotlight new fiction releases by LDS* authors!
Here you’ll find:
Spotlight Posts
At the core of Storytellers in Zion are SPOTLIGHT posts, designed to bring newly released novels to the attention of those who want to read books by Latter-day Saint authors. Spotlights on Storytellers in Zion are not book reviews, nor are they endorsements of the books or authors. It is simply a collation of new fiction releases by LDS authors.
New releases by Latter-day Saint authors may receive a FREE spotlight post that includes a large image of the front cover, basic information about your book, and a short bio with links to your website and social media.
I don’t have the time to read every book that is posted to my site. Authors, please do not imply in any way that by spotlighting your book means that I have endorsed, reviewed, or even read your book.
Click here for information on how to get your book on this site.
If you’re looking for a good book, scroll through the site, or use the Book Lists menu tab to search by title, author, series, genre, or release year. You can also use that awesome Search field over at the top of the sidebar.
Note: While all of the books on this site are by Latter-day Saint authors, that doesn’t mean they’re all squeaky clean. Please be sure to read the information about each book. Beginning September 2017, we are encouraging authors to obtain a Content Rating provided and used with permission from My Book Ratings. If a book has a rating, it will be posted at the bottom of the book description. Use this rating to help you choose books with the type of content you prefer.
Reader Reviews & Comments
The best way to find a good book is through referrals from friends whose opinions you trust. We invite you to leave a thoughtful comment for any of the books on this site that you’ve read.
What is a thoughtful comment? One that directly relates to your reading experience and/or content of the book. It doesn’t have to be long. One or two sentences is fine (or more, if you want).
Comments that say, “Good book” or “Hated it” aren’t very helpful to other readers. Tell us WHY you liked it—was it the plot? The characters? The writing style?
Or tell us why it didn’t work for you. The very things you disliked might be what another reader is looking for.
This probably does not need to be said, but just in case…
Please remember that words have power. Your comments may persuade or dissuade someone who is considering purchasing and/or reading a particular book.
Be honest, but respectful.
Comments that are solely promotional or that are disrespectful will be deleted.
As a reader of this site, do not allow the comments of a few to sway your decision on a book. If a book looks interesting, give it a chance.
Giveaways and Reading Challenges
We give away books every month! Some months, we do a Reading Challenge where we give away multiple books every day. (See more under the Contests tab.) During the other months, we give away six new fiction releases by LDS authors.
For all of our giveaways, authors and publishers donate the book prizes and we randomly select the winners. You’ll find the information on the current giveaway/reading challenge with links to enter to win in the sidebar.
Details about each giveaway or challenge can be found on the individual contest pages:
- Win These Books! Giveaways
- Polar Bear Plunge Reading Challenge (January)
- Summer Book Trek (July)
Annual Book Cover Contest (February)
This contest is just for fun! Anyone can nominate a book cover for consideration. A panel of judges narrows it down to five books per genre. Then we vote on those five finalists to determine the best of the best. Winners get a badge for their website and bragging rights. For more information, click here.
Give Books for Christmas (November)
In November, we sponsor a Give Books for Christmas drive. Sometimes we give prizes, sometimes you just get bragging rights. Find more information here.
