Anne Williams always dreamed of visiting the land of her birth even if she couldn’t master Chinese. Too bad the first person she meets getting off the plane is billionaire tech-designer and childhood nemesis, Tate Gilman.

For years Tate has worked at fulfilling a promise to his grandfather. Funny thing, along the way he created a language learning app that revolutionized the learning world and made him a fortune. On his way to meet with the Chinese, runs into his old classmate, Anne. But seeing her once isn’t enough. Tate’s only hope to find her again in the world’s most populous country is for her to reach out to him.

Not to be rude, Anne texts a polite message thanking Tate. Soon texting isn’t enough but how can this American couple find each other in a country with a billion reasons to keep them apart?

I find the concept of Miscellaneous Royalty amusing and kind of wish there was more specifically about that in the books but I did enjoy the read.

Tate is amazing because he makes a promise to his grandfather just before his death and all these years later he is still trying to fulfill that promise. So many would say, “Well, I tried.” But tried wasn’t good enough for him.

Anne seems to struggle with things that make her an interesting character. I could totally relate to her being directionally challenged since I am too. And it is brave of her to go to China when she was unable to master the language. I could relate to that too. I haven’t tried to learn Chinese but learning a language was difficult for me. But to fulfill that bucket list item Anne is determined to go to the land of her birth regardless …

Only negative is that after reading this I never want to go to China for any reason. I’d be completely stressed out the whole time.

    Sex: no
    Language: no
Violence: a little off page kerfuffle
