Edith’s dream of becoming a farmer florist is finally happening, unless Noah, the man who haunts the farmhouse, can drive her away.

Edith Daniels is really good at two things: growing and arranging flowers and taking care of her younger brother, Milo. For the last twelve years she’s focused mostly on Milo. But now a dear old friend, Simone, has died, leaving an old Victorian farmhouse and four acres of land empty and waiting.

Noah Winters is really good at two things: being bitter about the loss of his wife and haunting his Victorian farmhouse. He tolerated Simone and her family for decades, brooding in the background like the cranky ghost he is. But now Edith Daniels has moved in and painted his house a ridiculous shade of blue.

Edith is determined to endure Noah’s outbursts and grow her farmer florist business. Noah is determined to drive her away and ignore the pulse of long-forgotten feelings stirring inside him. Neither of them is prepared to discover they’ve fallen in love.

Rating: Mild+. Mild kissing; mild sensuality; mild (nonsexual) violence or horror.

This was a novel full of twists, turns, suspense and romance. Then add a Ghost for uniqueness to make for a special read.

** spoiler alert ** I don’t know how to write this review without spoilers. It is a good story and not my usual fare by any means. But as the story went on I had decided that it would likely have a Casablanca type ending and I never liked Casablanca. Still I had come to terms with it as the best ending. Imagine my surprise when it wasn’t that at all. This ending has a better happily-ever-after but I think my ending would have been interesting as well as more likely. Anyway, I liked the characters and I loved the sibling relationship. Those two had some fun banter. And I adored Cori. What a great quirky character.

This was an interesting and enjoyable Saturday afternoon read for me.
