While out on a hunting trip in southern Arizona, Tom Stanton witnesses a murder. The murderers are corrupt FBI agents working in combination with a drug cartel, and the victim is an employee of the Border Patrol. Tom is discovered at the time of the murder and defends himself in a gun battle and escapes. Although innocent, he is now on the wrong side of the law with a federal law enforcement agency.
Tom and his wife, Elena, know he will never receive a fair trial, if he even lives that long. They realize their only hope for freedom and survival is to escape from the control of the federal government by disappearing into America’s heartland. They become separated and each must make their own way to a predetermined meeting place in Colorado.
Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies join in an intense hunt, and both Tom and Elena are constantly at risk of discovery and capture. Their love for each other, their faith in God, and their determination to survive keeps them going as they face intense personal hardship in their struggle to remain free and be together again.
As they are tested to their personal limits, they meet some of the best people America has to offer who help them in their journey. Each person who supports Tom and Elena must make the personal decision of whether to aid a fugitive of the federal government, knowing the risks involved. Throughout their journey, Tom and Elena must rely on sharp wits, quick tactics, and help from God and others, but will that be enough to escape from the government and from the members of the drug cartel who seek revenge?

Ron Lee Jones grew up in Arizona. When he was young his family ran a dude ranch every summer in Colorado. Ron has worked on other ranches in Utah and Wyoming.
